Muses are a sisterhood of goddesses or spirits, their number set at nine by Classical times,
who embody the arts and inspire the creation process with their graces through remembered and improvised song and stage,
writing, traditional music, and dance. Not only are the Muses explicitly used in modern English to refer to an inspiration,
as when one cites his/her own artistic muse, but they are also implicit in the words "amuse" or "musing upon". *

PERFORMERS:

In addition to our Open-Mic Nights, we also offer opportunities for Musicians, Comics, Spoken-Word Artists & Poets, to put together a set, or an entire show, on our Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights... in a casual, intimate setting, much like performing in your own living room. Entertainment starts around 9:30pm, and each performer is given an hour time-slot and is paired up with other performers in an evening... or performers can put together a show and invite friends to perform with them for the whole evening. Please note that we do promote the shows at the cafe, on our website and in our newsletter, but we do not have much of an evening crowd, other than those people artists bring in - so we are currently booking those performers who can bring in a minimum of 10-15 people (more, if you are booking the whole evening.) All of our shows are free, but we request a $5.00 food and/or drink minimum per person. We offer a wonderful vintage piano to use, a full PA system, and a beautiful, intimate space, with great acoustics. We also have delicious food and coffee drinks... which make for a fantastic evening for your friends and fans! Please note that you can only play your own original music. Our venue is also open to writers putting together a reading with invited guests on our Thursday nights (at 8:30 or 9pm). ARTISTS:

We have a wonderful, rotating Art Gallery at Cafe MUSE, and change our artists on a monthly basis. Each artist is featured on our website, in our newsletter, and is given a Sunday evening Art Show & Reception to invite friends and family (to be catered by the cafe, a full menu is available). If you are interested in showing your work, please send a few pictures of your work, a short bio in the body of the email, and include all contact information (including a phone number) to booking@cafemusela.com. Customers really enjoy our art gallery, and we are thrilled that artists have often sold their work... and we get to experience some wonderful artwork at Cafe MUSE!
