Muses are a sisterhood of goddesses or spirits, their number set at nine by Classical times,
who embody the arts and inspire the creation process with their graces through remembered and improvised song and stage,
writing, traditional music, and dance. Not only are the Muses explicitly used in modern English to refer to an inspiration,
as when one cites his/her own artistic muse, but they are also implicit in the words "amuse" or "musing upon".

FRIDAY, July 18th, 9:30pm
Two Performers:
John DiGrazia and Casey Comstock

John DiGrazia was born in Las Cruces New Mexico.  At the age of four, his parents relocated from Tom’s River New Jersey to Texas.   There at the age of eight he began playing guitar in Church.  At the age of seventeen he moved to Austin, Texas where he began his career as a lead guitar player for former MCA recording artist Joe "King" Carrasco.  For four years John played lead guitar for the “One and Only King of Tex-Mex Rock-and-Roll”, which enabled him to tour all across the United States, Mexico and Canada.  John is featured on Joe "King" Carrasco's album Dia De Los Muertos.

While on tour with Joe, he also played lead guitar for the RYKO recording artist, Michael E. Johnson.  Michael was the lead singer of the Austin, Texas-based reggae band called The Killer Bees.  John commented, "While playing guitar for Michael or Joe, I got to share stages with a variety of great musicians including Chris Isaak, Los Lobos, Bruce Hornsby and even Jimmy Cliff.”  “I definitely learned how tough the road could be with absolutely no tour support.”  “However, I knew that I had found what I was looking, for which is to be a musician traveling on the road.”

After four years of touring with Joe, it was the interest of A&M Records that led him to Los Angeles.  “I felt since I had already been on the road for four years it was time to move to Los Angeles to pursue my solo career as a singer-songwriter.

John is currently playing at various clubs in Los Angeles and New York.  For more information go to www.johndigrazia.com and listen to his latest songs.  His unique musical style blends intimate lyrics with acoustic guitar tones that help his music crossover to a variety of radio stations.

CASEY COMSTOCK

You could call her the musical soul child of Billy Joel and Fiona Apple.  Or Carole King with a bit more angst.  But whatever the title, Detroit native Casey Comstock can be defined entirely by her talent.  A classically-trained pianist, Comstock incorporates elements of her technical background with contemporary genres, mainly pop, rock and Motown soul.  Quirky, passionate, and provocative, Comstock is a powerful performer, with a soulful voice and masterful piano virtuosity. www.myspace.com/caseycomstockmusic

SATURDAY, July 19th, 9:30pm
The Music of Randy Sacks

Randy Sacks and The Holy Rollers (no it's not a Christian Rock band) have been bringing the word to Los Angeles since 2000, and the word is GOODOLDAMERICANSONGWRITING! The 2002 release "APOSTASY" was a quirky pop/rock record with a darkside and rootsy storytelling flavor to the lyrics. Randy's songs have been featured in several independent films, including the title track for the short film "SEXY", which won awards internationally in several film festivals. Randy's first solo CD, "Friends and Enemies", released in 2007, is an all- acoustic recording with a surprising pop sensibility in spite of the folksy flavor of the featured steel guitars, dobros, mandolins and strings.  www.myspace.com/randysacks

 FRIDAY, July 25th, 9:30pm
Two Performers:
Jed's Dead and Judson McKinney

JED'S DEAD is a Los Angeles based four-piece that creates a dark blend of country rock and alternative roots music that they call “Folk-Noir.”   The band has gradually expanded its sound outside the confines of alt-country, while still honoring the Americana tradition.  The band crafts songs that range from twangy, blues rockers to brooding, acoustic ballads all with a touch of black humor.

Jed’s Dead was formed in 2003 when Edward Romero and Matthew Thies collaborated on a soundtrack for the short film “Headshot.”   Mo Sosnow joined the group on drums in 2004 and Jed’s Dead moved from playing coffee shops and into larger music venues in Hollywood.  Johnny Hawthorn joined the line up 2005, further shaping the sound of the band with electric guitar and lapsteel.  The Jed’s Dead debut album, “You’ve Already Won, Babydoll” was produced by Grammy Award winning producer Thomas Skarupa.  The first single from the album, “A Girl from Texas” was mixed by multi-platinum producer Val Garay.  Jed’s Dead has shared the stage with national acts and local roots rock favorites such as Dead Rock West, The High Strung, Rancho Deluxe, and Bucksworth.  Jed’s Dead songs have appeared in the feature films Sibling Rivalry and The Phobic.

Edward Romero lived as a working singer/songwriter in Europe for six years before moving to Los Angeles in 2003.   Matthew Thies has worked as a touring performer since age of 13.  His song “Real man” appeared on VH-1’s “Strange Love.”  Johnny Hawthorn is a celebrated solo artist in his own right, touring with national acts in his blues trio The Johnny Hawthorn Band.

JUDSON MCKINNEY
has loved music from the time he was sitting in his grandmother's lap, singing along as she played the Wurlitzer piano. Early on, Judson was inspired to create, and this inspiration led him to songwriting. Picking up the guitar as his go to instrument, Judson was in his first serious band by the sixth grade of elementary school. Writing and performing original songs has been a part of his life ever since, whether with a band or with his voice and guitar. From an artistic perspective, Judson wants to raise the bar and create music that is on a high level, both musically and lyrically. With the desire to move forward in his craft, Judson hopes to hone the creative gifts that God has blessed him with, making music and performing with all his heart. www.myspace.com/judsonmckinney
